Moar Glamour for Honour Awards

Brendan Moar

28 September 2010

Celebrity gardener and Foxtel presenter Brendan Moar is set to join other entertainment industry personalities at the Honour Awards this Thursday evening to celebrate outstanding achievements within or contributions to NSW's gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) community.

Host of the Lifestyle Channel's Moar Gardening and voted one of the network's most popular presenters, Mr Moar will join Biggest Loser trainer and celebrity fitness guru Michelle Bridges and some leading community identities at the Ivy in Sydney on Thursday night to honour five winners from a field of 22 finalists.

The awards are a gala fundraising event for ACON, NSW's and Australia's largest GLBT health and HIV/AIDS organisation, and community members are being encouraged to purchase tickets to the event to support ACON's vital work in the community.

The awards ceremony and cocktail party will be held in the glamorous Sun Room at the Ivy and guests will treated throughout the evening to quality wines and beers, delicious gourmet canapés and great DJs. There'll also be a silent auction featuring a range of beauty, fitness, dining and travel experiences as well as art, furniture, mobile devices and professional services. Some of the auction items include:

  • Michelle Bridges and City Gym training and fitness package
  • Sydney Harbour cruise for 10 people
  • Ticket packages for Opera Australia and the Sydney Symphony
  • VIP passes to all the top Sydney parties for a year
  • Weekend away at Forest Park in the Central Coast hinterland
  • Blackberry mobile phone package
  • Designer sunglasses package

ACON CEO Nicolas Parkhill the event will be a truly memorable occasion. "The awards this year are a much bigger celebration of our community that past years and we thank our presenting partners Foxtel, SSO, NSW Seniors Week and the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Business Association for helping us create such a wonderful event," Mr Parkhill says.

"All 22 finalists are extremely worthy of being recognised because their achievements and contributions are all remarkable in their own way. I congratulate all of our finalists and look forward to them and other members of our community coming together to celebrate their achievements at the Honour awards ceremony and cocktail party on Thursday evening."

Mr Parkhill says money raised from tickets sales and the silent auction will help fund ACON's vital work in the community.

"By coming along to the Honour Awards, community members, their friends and associates can celebrate the dynamic spirit of our community and, at the same time, raise money to help ACON build our community's health and wellbeing."
