Adventures In Pleasure

ACON's six-week Mardi Gras 09 campaign comprises a series of six health and wellbeing messages for the GLBT community that will be promoted throughout Mardi Gras under the banner of Adventures In Pleasure.

Mardi Gras is all about being a bit adventurous and seeking out pleasurable experiences, whether they be community, social or sexual activities and the aim of this campaign is to help people understand that an important part of enjoying any experience is caring about the health and welfare of yourself and others.

The messages are about:

• Preventing HIV and other sexually transmitted infections
• Ways to keep healthy if you’re HIV positive
• Taking precautions against homophobic violence
• Reducing the harms associated with alcohol and drug use

The style of the campaign is a playful interpretation of classic action-adventure movie posters. For example, they feature Buck Ramjoy getting busy in The Shrine of Sodom, Fanny Diva discovering the secret of The Invisible Itch and Buck, Fanny and their friends exploring The Cave of Mysterious Potions. 

It’s all very tongue-in-cheek and we’re hoping that locals and visitors will also get into the spirit and enjoy their adventures in pleasure while keeping themselves and others out of harm’s way.

March with ACON

Have a truly fabulous adventure and march with ACON in the Mardi Gras parade.

Every year, our staff, volunteers and supporters get together to create the biggest float in the parade.
