Home-Based Care Volunteers
You’ll be providing practical care and support that many people with HIV/AIDS find essential to maintaining an independent life in the community.

Positive Living Centre (PLC) Volunteer
Massage therapists, herbalists, life coaches, acupuncturists and naturopaths are also welcome to volunteer their services for clients at our Positive Living Centre.

The Luncheon Club serves warm and nutritious meals twice a week to disadvantaged people living with HIV/AIDS.

Youth
Want to help and enable young people in our community to improve their health and connect with other young people? You can volunteer with the following projects.
Fun & Esteem
We run different workshops and events which give you the chance to talk about being gay, coming out, sex and sexual health, HIV, relationships, the gay community and other issues that may concern you. Volunteering gives you an opportunity help us run this project.

Young Women’s Project
The ACON Young Women's Project is run by and for same sex-attracted women 26 years and under. We run workshops and events which explore issues affecting our community such as coming out, sex and sexual health, relationships, homophobia and much more. Volunteering gives you an opportunity help us run this project.

Volunteer Facilitator Training
All our workshops are facilitated by fully trained volunteer facilitators. If you think you'd be suitable as a volunteer facilitator, contact ACON to receive an information kit. Volunteer training is usually conducted once every 18 months.

Gay Men's Education
We help and enable gay and bisexual men to improve their health and wellbeing by providing relevant knowledge, skills, resources and social networks. You can volunteer to help us achieve this.

We help and enable Asian men who are gay, bisexual, transgender or HIV+ to improve their health and wellbeing by providing knowledge, skills and resources in culturally appropriate ways. You can volunteer to help us achieve this.

Safe Sex Packing Team
Preventing the spread of HIV is one of the most important jobs that ACON does. So every year, ACON staff distribute over 150,000 safe sex packs to gay men at clubs, pubs, sex on premises venues and community events. Packers work in a fun and supportive environment usually meeting on Saturdays and Thursdays from 9am-4pm.

Safe Sex Sluts
The ACON Safe Sex Sluts are a group of volunteers who promote safe sex at GLBT community events by distributing condoms packs and information about safe sex.

ACON Events Team
ACON runs a number of community and fundraising events, parties and launches throughout the year in which volunteers play an essential part.
World AIDS Day/AIDS Awareness Week (Nov-Dec annually)
Volunteers are greatly needed at this time to help raise vital funds and awareness for people living with HIV/AIDS. ACON could not provide the essential services and campaigns without this support and need a surge of volunteers during this time.

ACON runs a number of events during the MG festival, as well as being a big presence at Fair Day and the Mardi Gras Parade.

Alcohol & Other Drugs
We help and enable people in our community to stop using drugs or to reduce the harms associated with drug use by providing a range of targeted resources and support services. You can volunteer to help us achieve this.

Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander
We help and enable Aboriginal people and Torres Strait Islander people who are gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender/sistergirl, HIV positive, engaged in sex work or who inject drugs to improve their health and wellbeing by providing relevant knowledge, skills, resources and social networks. We do this within a culturally appropriate model of holistic health that recognises emotional, spiritual, social and mental wellbeing. We also work with many different groups to tackle all forms of racism in our community.

Mature Age Men
We help and enable mature aged people in our community to improve their health and wellbeing by providing support groups, developing health promotion initiatives and advocating for improved mainstream health and aged care services.
