GLBT NSW 2020 - Final Stage
Planning for the future of NSW’s GLBT community is the aim of a unique community initiative called GLBT NSW 2020.
Over the last 18 months, the organisers have consultated with a broad range of individuals and organisations connected with the GLBT community and have received feedback from more than 1000 community members.
They're now ready to present their findings and seek ideas about how this new knowledge can help inform and coordinate the activities of our community organisations between now and 2020.
This will be the final stage of the initiative so if you want to help shape the future GLBT NSW, then make sure you get along.

About GLBT NSW 2020
In the mould of the Federal Government's 2020 Summit, GLBT NSW 2020 is a special project which aims to create a plan for the development of NSW’s GLBT community.
The initiative began in September 2008 when representatives from about 20 leading GLBT community organisations met at a roundtable to discuss the parameters and how it should proceed. Following the meeting, an interagency working group was formed to drive the initiative through a process of public consultation.
The working group launched an online survey that allowed individuals and other community groups to rate the key priorities from that earlier roundtable, or suggest their own. The priorities included:
- Equality
- Anti-discrimination laws
- Anti-homophobia resources in schools
- Better dialogue
- A more caring community
The survey also asked what services GLBT people want to see in their local area, such a GLBT community centre or more health, aged care, news, religious, or youth services.
