Cannabis
What is cannabis?
- A leafy plant which grows wild in many of the tropic and temperate areas of the world
- Cultivated both indoors and out
- Most commonly used form are the leaves and flowering tops (buds)
- Can be smoked or eaten
- Also comes in a more concentrated resinous form called 'hash' or 'hashish', and as a sticky black liquid called 'hash oil'
- Also known as marijuana or pot
Law
In NSW, it's illegal to possess, use, grow, import or sell cannabis (marijuana), cannabis resin (hash) or hash oil. For possession or use of cannabis, you could:
- get fined up to $2,200
- be made to do community service work
- be sent to prison for up to 2 years
Effects
Onset
- Immediate (when smoked)
- 1-2 hours (when eaten)
Duration
- 1-2 hours (when smoked)
- 3-4 hours (when eaten)
