MSM In The Mekong Sub-Region Consultation Report Released

| Members of RSAT, LYAP and ACON in Laos |
In late 2008 ACON and the Rainbow Sky Association of Thailand (RSAT) undertook a consultation process with MSM and HIV organisations in four countries of the Mekong sub-region (Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia). The consultation was funded by AusAID and supported by the Australian Federation of AIDS Organisations.
The consultation aimed to develop a framework for MSM community based organisations to collaborate in the Mekong. It produced a range of recommendations for designing programs and building cooperation in the sub-region.
As well as involving many stakeholders from government, international NGOs, the UN system and donor organisations, the consultation focused on building stronger relationships between RSAT and four Mekong MSM organisations and projects: the Laos Youth Action for AIDS Programme (LYAP), Green Pine Self Help Group (Hanoi, Vietnam), Men’s Health Cambodia (MHC) and Men’s Health Social Services (MHSS, Cambodia).
The report, Regional Collaboration Among HIV/AIDS Community-Based Organisations Working With Men Who Have Sex With Men In The Mekong Sub-Region: A Proposed Framework for Action is now completed. ACON and RSAT are moving forward with the support of AFAO and the four Mekong partner organisations to develop new programs based on its findings.
