Newly Diagnosed With HIV
Get the help you need
If you've just found out you’re HIV positive, ACON offers a range of information and services to help you make sense of your diagnosis and find the support you need.
Support
If you need to talk things through right away we offer a Newly Diagnosed Priority Service that gives you access to a trained counselor within one working day of your request.
We also provide peer support, referrals and groups where you can discuss your situation with other gay men who are in similar circumstances to yourself.
For women and families affected by HIV, we offer up-to-date information, peer support and referrals.
Information
At our Knowledge Centre, we have a wide range of printed material about different aspects of living with HIV from research papers and technical information about treatments to how to live healthily and enjoy sex and intimacy.
Treatments are a very important aspect of your future well-being and should be considered seriously by having a discussion with our Treatments Officer who will help you understand the range of options available to you and help you make a decision that's right for you.
