Get Involved

There are a number of ways that you can get involved in the work and activities of ACON Gay Men's Education Team.

Volunteer Facilitator Training

We run workshops all year round on everything from relationships and coming-out to cruising in venues and group sex. You can volunteer to become a workshop facilitator. This involves doing one of our workshops and then doing a training course which equips you with the knowledge and skills to run our workshops.

You can also volunteer to help out with our events, forums or surveys or even becoming a safe sex slut. All our workshops are facilitated by fully trained volunteer facilitators.

If you think you'd be suitable as a volunteer facilitator, contact ACON to receive an information kit. Volunteer training is usually conducted once every 18 months.

Focus Testing

ACON’s Education Team develops and launches various educative and communication campaigns as well as runs support groups for gay men.

The Education Team is looking for volunteers to help with focus testing of ACON’s new and upcoming campaigns. Focus testing involves looking at new campaign materials and providing feedback to help with the campaign’s development. This feedback is then used to improve the campaign before it is launched and promoted in the community.

Please note, focus testing is an irregular volunteer activity and involvement will depend on the type of participant the Education Team require for that particular campaign. That being said, the team would love to have your name on their list in case you fit their next focus test profile.

Campaigns

ACON's Education Team develops a range of social marketing campaigns aimed at promoting the health and well-being of our community. The Education Team is looking for volunteers to feature as models within new and upcoming campaigns. Models could appear in a range of mediums such as posters, press ads, booklets or even videos!

Campaigns range in explicitness from fully clothed to full nudity. All involvement is valued.

Please note, modelling for campaigns is an irregular volunteer activity and involvement will depend on the type of participant the Education Team require for that particular campaign. That being said, the team would love to have your name on their list in case you fit their next campaign talent profile.
