Who We Work With

ACON already works closely with a number of research centres, and we are looking to expand this group in the future.

At the moment our key partners include:

The National Centre in HIV Social Research

The National Centre in HIV Social Research (NCHSR), established in 1990 is located within the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at the University of New South Wales, Sydney.

NCHSR is internationally recognised for its contribution to the Australian response to HIV and hepatitis C. While the core of its work has been in social aspects of HIV, particularly in regard to sexual practice, in recent years the NCHSR research program has expanded to include social research related to hepatitis C, injecting and illicit drug use, sexual health, Aboriginal health and the Asia-Pacific region.

Studies around other blood borne viruses, particularly hepatitis C and sexually transmitted infections are also part of the Centre’s research profile. The NCHECR undertakes research that focuses on epidemiology, clinical research and clinical trials, in collaboration with other research centres, government departments, the pharmaceutical industry, community groups, health clinics and general practitioners.

NCHECR is affiliated with the University of New South Wales through the Faculty of Medicine and is located on the campus of St Vincent’s Hospital, a major teaching hospital of UNSW in Sydney, Australia.
