Being Single
I want to be alone
Seldom seen as a choice, being single or 'flying solo' as a long term lifestyle choice is often depicted as boring, depressing, sad, negative, and something to remain in for only a short period of time or to be avoided altogether if possible. Also, if a woman is single, society often suggests that it's because a previous relationship has failed, perhaps even that someone has left her or doesn't want her. Either way, singles often lack a positive image.
Being single can be a life-saving, rejuvenating experience. Being single can offer a woman the opportunity to discover more about herself, what she likes and doesn't like, how she deals with things, what she wants out of life, what her expectations are, what her potentials and limitations are, what energises and empowers her, and what discourages and disappoints her.
The greatest love of all
The goal of being alone is not to prepare for a relationship or couplehood. Rather, the goal of being single can be to learn to fulfill ourselves, to meet our needs, and to develop as a human regardless of whether or not we choose to enter into a relationship with another person.
By learning to love and care for ourselves, we diminish the risk of starving for someone else to fill a void within our lives; a void that only we can truly fill. Choosing to be single can be just as satisfying as thriving in a healthy relationship, and there are many benefits.
